Rajiv Shamsher
Bahadur Vij, MD, MPH
Dr Vij is currently
Nephrology fellow at North Shore University
Hospital in Manhasset, NY. He graduated from
Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur
in 1999 and worked for few years in rural India
before deciding to come to USA in 2001 in
pursuit of higher education. He joined Illinois
Institute of Technology, Chicago where he did
graduate education in Molecular Biology and
advanced Biochemistry. After learning more about
basic science research, he joined University of
Illinois, Chicago to pursue Masters in Public
Health, specializing in environmental and
occupational health and epidemiology. He
actively participated in clinical research in
Nephrology during this time. After finishing his
masters in June 2005, he started his residency
in Internal Medicine at Norwalk Hospital, CT
affiliated with Yale University. After finishing
his residency, Rajiv is now pursuing clinical
fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension. He is
a diplomat of American Board of Internal
Medicine.
Dr. Vij is a member of
prestigious societies like American Society of
Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, American
College of Physicians and American Association
of Physicians of Indian Origin. Dr Vij has been
actively involved in clinical research and has
presented at national and state level meetings
and won awards.
Dr. Vij was an important
leader in the residency program, displaying an
energy and enthusiasm that was inspirational for
all. He received accolades for his work by his
seniors and colleagues. He served as chair of
Health fair committee at Norwalk hospital and
actively participated in many community outreach
programs.
Dr Vij was born in
Pathankot, India on December 23 1975. His father
is a retired Air Force Personnel and mother is a
house wife. His sister is also a practicing
physician in India.
