Dimi Barot, MD
Dr. I. A. "Dimi" Barot (Founder and Chief Executive Officer) graduated from a 7-year Honors Program in Medicine in 2001. He continued to the top-ranked University of Miami Neurology Program and was fellowship-trained in sleep medicine via the Yale University School of Medicine. He subsequently returned to his home state as the first sleep fellowship-trained specialist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Within five years of starting his own sleep medicine practice, Dr. Barot was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and repeatedly honored with the Patients' Choice Award, America's Top Physicians Award and America's Most Compassionate Physicians Award.
Dr. Barot is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in both Neurology and Sleep Medicine. He serves on the Board of Visitors of Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he has also been promoted to Associate Professor. He was elected the youngest Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and the youngest Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), along with publishing articles in national journals and chapters in authoritative textbooks. After practicing medicine for just over five (5) years, Dr. Barot transitioned from full-time clinical practice to start his own sleep management companies, including Arima Health (www.arimahealth.com), with the goal of promoting healthy sleep and its relationship to overall health.
Dr. Barot has been elected to the Board of Directors at the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trustees at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, Board of Directors at TowneBank, and has served on the Health Care Policy Committee for Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe.
